It provides a forum for the exchange of views between members, and aims to further their expectations and interests.

The membership embodies a wide range of specialist knowledge of the principles and modern practices for effective communication of scientific and technical information. Through its publications and meetings, the Institute disseminates this experience to a growing profession and to those who use the services of its members.
